FOGO ISLAND INN

Fogo Island Inn is literally in the middle of nowhere- a modernist island retreat off Newfoundland attracting artist and adventure seekers. Zita Cobb was born on the island but let for college in Ottawa, working in the tech industry and becoming one of the richest women in Canada. She cashed out years later, returned to her home and created the Shorefast Foundation, a charity that supports Fogo’s economic and cultural heritage. If that wasn’t enough, she also established the Fogo Island Arts Corporation, a residency program that allows artists- anyone from painters, writers, to composers to spend three months emerging themselves in their craft and staying in beautifully designed studios by architect Todd Saunders, a native Newfoundlander.
